GUA MUSANG, 15 July 2023 – The Department of Trade Union Affairs (JHEKS) recommends the youth of the Orang Asli community who do not have a job to join the Territorial Army.

Its director, Encik Kamal Pardi, said the recommendation was well-founded after seeing the abilities of the Orang Asli youth.

“This is a good start to continue their career in the future.

“So this is what we hope to be able to benefit the Orang Asli community in this area and the surrounding communities,” he said after officiating the JHEKS Social Responsibility Program (CSR) with the Orang Asli community at Post Brooke here, yesterday.

In another development, Kamal told, until now as many as 760 unions or 960,000 workers in this country have registered as trade union members.

He said that workers are encouraged to join trade unions because they act as negotiators between workers and employers, especially involving welfare and more benefits for workers.

“We found that the membership of trade unions in our country has not yet reached the level we expected because the number is less than one million people at the moment.

“I hope that workers in this country will join the trade union and move as a group that helps employers and not as pressure groups,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Head of Penghulu Orang Asli Kelantan, Bidi Ronggeng welcomes the program that provides job opportunities for Orang Asli.

“Many Orang Asli children do not really know where they are going after finishing fifth form. In fact, many people still don’t have a job yet and this kind of opportunity gives them space to ask themselves what field they want to pursue.

“I hope programs like this will continue in the future to help the Orang Asli community in a better direction,” he said.
