The Department of Trade Union Affairs (JHEKS) of Penang, in collaboration with JHEKS Kedah and Perlis, successfully organised the e-TUIS System Enhancement Workshop 2025 at the Digital Transformation Centre (Digital@USM), Universiti Sains Malaysia, Penang. The workshop brought together 27 participants representing trade unions from the northern zone states of Penang, Kedah, and Perlis. The session was facilitated by speakers and facilitators from JHEKS Headquarters, equipped with in-depth expertise in the department’s digital system development.

The primary objective of the workshop was to enhance users’ understanding and capabilities in using the e-TUIS system more effectively and efficiently at the state level. Key goals included identifying and resolving technical issues faced by users, introducing newly implemented or upcoming features of the system, and strengthening collaboration between system implementers and end-users to ensure smoother and more organised trade union-related processes.

Throughout the programme, participants received detailed briefings, hands-on training, and direct interaction with the system developers. These sessions created a valuable platform for participants to share real-life user experiences, propose improvements, and provide constructive feedback for further refinement of the system to suit ground-level operations.

Overall, the workshop yielded positive and meaningful impacts. Participants demonstrated improved understanding of the e-TUIS system’s functions and became more capable in handling technical challenges. The interactive environment also enhanced two-way communication between users and system administrators, resulting in more targeted and efficient solutions.

This initiative reflects JHEKS’ strong commitment to inclusive and progressive digital transformation across its services. By employing a user-centric training approach, the department is proactively working towards a more responsive, transparent, and efficient digital governance system. It is hoped that similar workshops will be expanded nationwide to ensure the e-TUIS system is fully leveraged by all relevant stakeholders.
