KUALA LUMPUR : The MADANI Worker Card initiative announced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar in conjunction with the 2025 Workers’ Day celebration yesterday, is described as a special gift to the workers, thus expressing gratitude for the concern shown by the government.

In  MELAKA , clinic assistant Jaszmina Iskandar, 25, described the MADANI Worker Card as the best gift from the government in easing the burden of the increasingly challenging cost of living.

He said the initiative would not only boost employee morale, but also encourage employers to be more transparent in caring for their welfare.

“Apart from easing the burden, it also increases our morale as employees to continue to serve honestly in the future, while employers are more transparent in looking after the welfare of their employees,” he said.

In  PAHANG , private sector worker Hafiza Halimi, 35, said the launch of the MADANI Worker Card was seen as one of the government’s initiatives to appreciate the working class and that it could also increase consumer purchasing power as well as stimulate the country’s economic growth.

Meanwhile in  TERENGGANU , the state Trade Union Director, Rosli Zakaria said the initiative was clearly a two-pronged strategy because it would ease the burden on workers as well as support the economic strengthening of industry players involved in offering discounts.

“For me, it’s a win-win situation, employees can enjoy discounts and increase their productivity while the companies involved can take advantage of the promotion, thus increasing their respective sales,” he said when contacted by Bernama today.

In  SELANGOR , the state Human Resources and Poverty Eradication Exco, V Paparaidu, who agreed with the opinion, called for workers and employers to work together to respond to the Prime Minister’s desire to boost the country’s progress.

He stressed the importance of adequate incentives and motivational guidance to ensure that employees remain enthusiastic and loyal, thus improving production quality.

“The commitment of both parties can trigger a domino effect such as increased production and quality, increased company income and a surge in national performance,” he said.

Paparaidu also urged employers to re-evaluate the provision of fair and equitable remuneration to safeguard the welfare and dignity of workers.

Earlier, Anwar Ibrahim announced that the initiative would provide an opportunity for union members who hold MADANI Workers’ Cards to enjoy discounts on various facilities, with participating companies including AEON, Mydin, Jakel, Marrybrown, Genting, OldTown White Coffee, ZUS Coffee, SOCAR and Bateriku.
