Raia Hotel & Convention Centre, Terengganu | Saturday 10 May 2025
The Ministry of Human Resources (KESUMA) today remains committed to empowering the voice of workers through the implementation of the Trade Union Affairs Program (PHEKS) Year 2025 with the highest allocation in history, amounting to RM10 million. The handover ceremony for the Eastern Zone level was held at Hotel Raia, Terengganu and officiated by YBrs. Tuan Haji Mohd Asri bin Abdul Wahab, Director General of the Trade Union Affairs Department (JHEKS).

A total of 96 applications worth RM1.05 million were approved for trade unions from the states of Kelantan, Terengganu and Pahang, as part of a total of 551 applications worth RM7.15 million approved nationally.
PHEKS is a one-off financial assistance to support union activities in five main clusters: training and education, trade union research, scholarly writing, purchase of computer hardware and digitization of records.

This program not only aims to strengthen the union’s organizational structure, but also to foster authoritative leadership and progressive unions in line with the aspirations of MADANI Malaysia, particularly in the core of Justice, Ihsan and Creativity, by emphasizing the union’s ability to defend workers’ rights in a sustainable and inclusive manner.
The implementation of PHEKS 2025 proves the government’s determination in bridging the gap between policy and grassroots implementation through direct support for the trade union movement.
